Any old crust punk kids here? Anarcho peace punk kids? DIY philosophy folks!!! This song is a little sign Bjork is holding up in her own special loud and proud way. It's like saying, "Well, hello.

Hell, she even recorded on Crass' record label back in the day, right? Touring with them and bands like Dirt? So, anyway. The punks. Not diggin' the establishment much. DIY ethic fits in right along there. Good ol' Wikipedia: """The DIY ethic refers to the ethic of self-sufficiency through completing tasks oneself, as opposed to having others who are more experienced or able complete them on one's behalf.

Literally meaning "do it yourself," it promotes the idea that an ordinary person can learn to do more than just what he or she may have thought was possible. Naturally, a DIY attitude requires that the adherent attain as well as retain the knowledge required to complete a given task. Without this, DIY is an ineffective dogma. The term can refer to "doing" anything at all, including home improvements and repairs, first aid, or even creative endeavors.

Central to the ethic is the empowerment of individuals and communities, encouraging the employment of alternative approaches when faced with bureaucratic or societal obstacles to achieving their objectives.

Love her. There was an error. Much appreciated. Flag b13n on November 28, General Comment I know to each person the lyrics will resonate differently and mean different things, but I listen to this song besides almost ever day because I love it especially when nothing is working out in life, and I'm stuck in a rut, and everyone is mean, and nothing goes my way, and I'm struggling against the current, but it only pulls me in faster So this song, to me, brings the equilibrium in life back. And like Heimdall mentioned, 'Undo' has a similar vibe, except 'It's in our hands' is more of a "Don't worry, be happy" : Sorry for the UBER long run-on sentence haha I don't rule out the possibility of this song being about consumerism, or global warming, or God and such, but I've noticed that Bjork often writes just about life and its wonders, feelings, new experiences, and how to embrace them.

General Comment This song is about global warming, human effect on nature. About our responsability to nature, the destruction of the world is in our hands. General Comment I agree that it's not purely about global warming, but I disagree with the idea that it's not about the world and nature.

Sure there is this suggestion of "just stop gazing elsewhere, everything needed is here, in our hands, and it was there all the time". But, the video completes this message.

  1. This set of tracks is essential for any Bjork lover, and will be a delightful suprise to pretty much any fan of electronic music. The CD opens with the original version of "It's In Our Hands." I am a huge Bjork fan, and although this is a great track, I will admit that this song was never one of my favourites/5(6).
  2. This is the first part of a two CD/one DVD set, and this is a wonderful opener. Of course, the first song is the single itself, the "Greatest Hits" version of "It's In Our Hands," and, while many of her fans have complained that it lacks the energy that it was given in its live treatment on the tour, I find this version to be superior/5(4).
  3. The Soft Pink Truth Mix of It's In Our Hands adds so much life and energy to the song. It turns it into something completely unplifting and beat-heavy. It is one of the best Bjork remixes I have ever heard and is alone worth the single price. The Arcade Mix is not as good, but just as enjoyable, turning the song into something a bit stranger.5/5(3).
